The department of acquisition and scientific processing of literature ensures scientifically grounded, complete, operational acquisition of the collection and its disclosure in the system of traditional and electronic catalogs of the library in order to satisfy readers’ requests.
The department carries out the processes of acquisition, systematization and cataloging of publications and other documents on the basis of the automated library information system IRBIS, which is a set of interconnected automated workstations (AWPs) – “Setter”, “Cataloguer”, “Systematizer”, “Book availability”.
The department carries out a systematic and operational acquisition of the library fund with documents in traditional and electronic media in the state, Russian and foreign languages.
- The department completes the fund with documents and information resources.
- The department organizes the work of the Council for the acquisition of the library fund of the University on the acquisition of literature
- The department issues preliminary orders for publications according to price lists of book-selling organizations and publishing houses on the basis of applications from departments, divisions of the University and departments of the library (insert – sample application for educational literature). Provides price lists and subscription catalogs for familiarization with publications that are being prepared for printing and published (inset Familiarization with price lists and subscription catalogs is made in room 144 or on the library website). Helps in the processing of applications.
- The department organizes subscription to periodicals (insert – sample application).
- The department takes into account all incoming and outgoing documents.
- The department performs technical processing of documents and transfers them to the book storage department.
- The department accepts as a gift from the teaching staff of the university educational and scientific publications (sample memo)
