• New descriptive data on open access models. The new data shows each journal’s articles by access model. This provides the research community with transparent, publisher-independent information about the relative contribution of articles published free of charge for reading and reuse under Creative Commons (“golden open access”) licenses to the journal’s overall content and links. For the 7487 hybrid journals in JCR, readers can now quickly and easily identify:
- the number of articles published using the traditional subscription model, and
- those published through Creative Commons licenses.
• Objectivity in the choice of magazines. Clarivate removed 33 journals from the JCR this year to maintain the integrity of the reports, representing 0.27% of the listed journals. JCR monitors and excludes journals that exhibit abnormal citation behavior, including where there is evidence of over-self-citation of a journal and citation summation
