Standardization, certification and metrology (by industry)
“Standardization, Certification and Metrology (by industry)“ is a field of study that includes three interrelated fields of knowledge:
- Standardization. The study, analysis, generalization and formulation of patterns of production processes in order to achieve their optimal degree of order. In practical terms, standardization consists in the development and application of regulatory, technical and methodological documents.
- Metrology. The science of measurements, methods of ensuring their unity and means of achieving the necessary measurement accuracy. With the help of metrological standards, specialists in practice obtain quantitative parameters of objects with a given accuracy.
- Certification. Establishing the conformity of a product (or service) with existing standards or regulations. The certification objectives are aimed at protecting consumers from unscrupulous manufacturers, and monitoring the safety of products for life and health.
