Saken Seifullin 130 years old
Saken Seifullin (real name — Saduakas) is a Kazakh poet and writer, the founder of modern Kazakh literature, a statesman, a prominent member of the Communist Party of the Bolsheviks. He was born on October 15, 1894 in a nomadic village in Akmola district (now Karaganda region). In 1913-1916 he studied at the Omsk Teachers‘ Seminary. He worked as a teacher. An active participant in the struggle for the establishment of Soviet power in Kazakhstan. Since 1919, he was in a managerial position in Akmolinsk (now Nur–Sultan). In 1920 he moved to Orenburg. Chairman of the Council of People‘s Commissars of the Kazakh ASSR (1922-1925), member of the All-Union Central Executive Committee. Since 1934, he has been a professor at the Kazakh Communist Institute of Journalism. He made his debut as a poet with the collection “Bygone Days“ (1910). He is the author of poetry collections “The Indomitable Horse“ (1922), “Express“ (1926), “On the Waves of Life“ (1928). His works also include the plays “The Path to Happiness“ (staged in 1918), “The Red Falcons“ (1920), the historical and memoir novel “The Hard Way, the Hard Transition“ (1927), the novellas “The Navvies“ (1928), “Fruits“ (1935). He was repressed and shot on April 25, 1938. Rehabilitated posthumously.
