Name in history: Magzhan Zhumabayev


Magzhan Zhumabayev (kaz. Magzhan Bekenuly Zhumabai) is a Kazakh poet, publicist, teacher, one of the founders of the new Kazakh literature. He was born on June 25 (July 6), 1893 in the Sasykkul tract of the Petropavlovsk district of the Akmola province (North Kazakhstan region). He studied at the Petropavlovsk madrasah, then at the Galiya Madrasah in Ufa. In 1913-1916, he studied at the Omsk TeachersSeminary, from which he graduated with a gold medal. In the mid1920s, he worked at the Literary Institute in Moscow. The first poetry collection Sholpan It was released in 1912. He showed the bright and original talent of the young author. In his work, Zhumabayev was distinguished by a special refined style, he was able to convey subtle feelings in words. His works are filled with tragedy and a sense of responsibility to the people at a crucial moment in history. He died on March 19, 1938.  In 1960, he was rehabilitated posthumously.
