30th anniversary of the first flight of a Kazakhstani into space

Toktar Ongarbaevich Aubakirov is the 72nd (and last) cosmonaut of the USSR, the first cosmonaut of Kazakh nationality. He was born on July 27, 1946 in the village of the collective farm named after May 1, Karkaralinsky district, Karaganda region. Specialty: test pilot, cosmonaut researcher. Military rank: Major General of the Kazakh Air Force. Awards: National Hero of Kazakhstan (1995), Hero of the Soviet Union (1988), Honored Test Pilot of the USSR (1990). After the collapse of the USSR, he lived in Kazakhstan and was in the civil service. Since April 1992 — First Deputy Chairman of the State Defense Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan for Space Exploration.
